Elena is 1 year old

Elena Denena Menena....that is what Daddy and Mummy call you...although your name is just Elena.

We cannot believe that you are 1 year old now. I remember the day you were born. I was really scared because I'm gonna have a baby girl. I was afraid to be honest. I had taken care of your brother Elhan all this while and we did a lot of boys stuff. How was I gonna cope with a baby girl?

As soon as you were born, you opened your eyes as if looking straight at me, Daddy cried. From that moment i knew it didn't matter that you are a girl.

Just like your brother you were an easy baby...well most of the time. When you cried, you really cried....more like scream.

In the first 6 months, I felt as though i wasn't involved in taking care of you as most of the time I had to layan Elhan. When mummy had a new job with odd hours I had the chance of taking care of you. It was during this time you became my princess.

After your meal we would have play time. I would lie down on the floor and you would crawl up to my belly and lie on me with your head on my chest and arms around me. You would hug me tight as though you are saying "i love you" and "thank you". It was the most wonderful feeling ever for me.

You have yet to say your first real words and you have yet to grow teeth. But somehow I can understand your gibberish and you can understand what me and mummy say to you.

You are fascinated by handphones and TV remotes. You know how to reach for your pampers when i say lets change pampers. You can clap your hands and raise your finger to Elhan as if saying "no no no". You love to look yourself in the mirror...no surprise there and you love it when i comb your hair...again no surprise there.

You are such a beautiful girl. I can bet i'm gonna have a tough time fending off the boys later. I am glad I have Elhan as the first line of defence. I am sure he will be good brother and protect over you.

Daddy and Mummy will always love you as our princess. i pray to God that i will still be around when i hand over this responsibility to the man of your choice. In the mean time Daddy will always be there for you.
