Some tips to save your daily costs.
1. Do you still buy newspapers? Why..when you get news from the internet. If you buy the Star everyday that comes up to RM8.40 per week, that adds to about RM36 a month. For this amount of money you can buy 13 litres of petrol.
2. Do you really need internet at home? Most of us use the internet at the workplace to blog and stuff. There's also free wifi at coffee places. Heck, even some mamak shops now offer free wifi. So, if you terminate your streamyx account you save about RM80 a month, that's about 30 litres of petrol.
3. Sign up for internet banking. You dont need to drive to the bank to do transactions unless you need to bank in cheques. There's a whole lotsa thing you can do from internet banking including paying bills, loans, credit cards etc.
4. Talking bout credits cards, its time to cut them up. Just stick to one for emergency use. Some might think, how can one live without credit cards? Well, i have stopped using credit cards since the past 5 years. The last i used the card was to pay for my wife's delivery recently.
5. Health insurance is more important than life insurance. Some might disagree with me on this one but i think you'll need all the help you can when you are hospitalised rather than when you're dead.
6. Do you really need Astro? huh? Of course i do! I cant live without Astro especially a footie junkie like me!
7. If you drive a big ass car like an Alphard, stream or 4WD...well, its time to go local or japanese. Myvi and Persona are relatively good cars, contrary to what you hear. Of course if you still want to "ada gaya", you might want to check out suzuki swift (my wife drives one).
8. Do you know that driving a manual car saves petrol compared to an auto transmission? Yeah, go manual la. To further save petrol dont drive tergesa-gesa. Try to maintain a cruising speed of 80-90km/h max.
9. If you're not the sweaty type, you can save more fuel by not using the car's aircon. But if on a highway and you're doing 120km/h dont bother turning off the aircon with your windows down as you'll burn more fuel caused by wind drag.
10. Do ensure your car's tyre pressure is maintained, preferrably every 2 weeks. Low tyre pressure may cause the car to burn more fuel.
11. If the oil prices keep going up and one day you'd have to pay RM5 per litre. Get a bicycle. ( I already have one)
